Job Title: Employee Relations Manager (6-month FTC)

Division: HR Shared Services

Location: Solihull - Homer Road

Reason for role

To provide operational support to the Case Advisors and field day to day enquiries from the Case Management Team Service Delivery Manager.

To look at continuous improvement initiatives to move the team forward in terms of efficiency and effectiveness.

About the role
  • Work in partnership with the business to lead a team that provide strong professional HR advice and support strategic HR decisions at all levels of the organisation.
  • Provide a proactive and/or "on demand" advisory and consultancy service to people managers on a range of human resources issues, employee life cycle procedures and policies consistent with employee standards, legislation and guidelines.
  • To enable the team to provide effective advice to ensure that all team documentation and guidance are in line with employment law, case law and best practice.
  • Liaise with external agencies/ functions such as legal, pensions and payroll to ensure effective delivery of service.
  • Work with Service Delivery Manager to agree and implement strategies that support business objectives.
  • Be a point of escalation for Case Advisors for more complex queries.
  • As per Supplier Master Services Agreement, conduct supplier business review meetings to ensure all KPI's and service elements are met.
  • Oversee the supplier performance and drive continuous improvement in service levels. Ensure performance metrics are met or exceeded and act as subject matter expert.
  • Leading on team projects and working closely with the Service Delivery Manager to forecast, implement, drive and execute these.
  • Support the Service Delivery Manager to promote positive team engagement and contribute to Viewpoint action planning and implementation.


About you
  • A recognised HR qualification (CIPD or equivalent) - Essential
  • Supervisory capability.
  • Have an up to date understanding and application of employment law and HR best practice.
  • A commercial and pragmatic approach to providing HR solutions.
  • Confident operating within a client-facing environment.
  • Relationship Management Skills - e.g. influencing, stakeholder management, dealing and having with difficult conversations.
  • Ability to coach and develop people managers and team members.
  • Ability to apply judgement to individual cases, make decisions and manage risks.
  • Ability to demonstrate presence and credibility within the organisation and manage key stakeholders.
  • Able to travel and work remotely on occasion as required.
  • Practical experience in managing complex ER cases, including redundancies, restructures, disciplinary and grievance cases and complex case management.
