Volunteering is pivotal for the success of the RSPB, we simply could not save nature without volunteers. With over 12,000 volunteers giving their time and talents regularly, it is important that we ensure our large workforce are being well supported so they are having a quality volunteering experience, gaining enjoyment and satisfaction from what they do, as well as having real impact for nature through their work.

We are looking for someone with experience working with volunteers, preferably in a leadership role. You will enjoy working with people and building relationships and trust with colleagues across the organisations. This role covers a large geographical area, so you will be organised and work consistently so that you are visible to the teams you support, even if you can't be everywhere in person. You will have excellent communication skills and feel comfortable talking to teams at all levels.

As a Volunteering Development Officer, you will join a small development team to advise volunteer line managers on excellent volunteering management, policy and best practice. You will also be a champion for change, constantly considering ways to improve how we work. This role is about influencing and inspiring others, so they are driven to work with more volunteers and in innovative ways. For the organisation to grow and ultimately save nature, we must mobilise and develop volunteers across all areas of the business, and it is the role of the Volunteering Development Officer to give the energy and expertise needed to realise that change.
