You will develop simulation environments and plant models for powertrain components for use in control system development. Support the use of the simulation models at all stages of the system-"V" development.

Senior/Principal Control Simulation Engineer Role:
  • Develop requirement specifications, design, implementation, integration and test of control system simulation models.
  • Work closely with engineers of different disciplines (mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic) to develop plant models that represent the physical systems with appropriate accuracy and fidelity
  • Prepare and maintain model parameterisation data. Liaise with other teams to get the necessary data. Support testing undertaken to collect this data.
  • Maintain models using version control tools. Provide formal releases and documentation of models for other teams to use.
  • Support the integration of plant models into test environments (MIL, HIL).
  • Investigate issues found in the plant models and manage the resolution of them.
  • Work closely with Control System and Control Software teams to ensure delivery of complete system.
  • Be a practitioner and promoter of advanced simulation techniques.
  • Support system robustness, diagnostics and functional safety development and analysis at a simulation level.
  • Mentor junior members of the team in UK and China.

  • Good logical reasoning and problem investigation/resolution.
  • Proven experience of developing complex simulation models of physical systems.
  • Proven experience of developing plant models for control system co-simulation.
  • Good understanding of modelling at different levels of fidelity and the appropriate use of simulation during the development lifecycle.
  • Good overall understanding of full Control System development lifecycle would be an advantage.
  • Experience of system validation using simulation tools (e.g. MIL/HIL) and test benches.
  • Experience of design and implementation of automotive powertrain simulation models would be a distinct advantage but equivalent experience in aerospace or other industries will be considered.
  • Preferred working knowledge of Mathworks toolset but will consider equivalent experience in other toolsets.
  • Experience of Model Based System Engineering would be an advantage.
