Bethphage is very excited to have been awarded the contract to manage and continue to develop the Shared Lives Shropshire Service.
Shared Lives is a fantastic model of support, it brings people who need support together with families or individual people who want to share their lives with one or more people. The range of people who benefit from this kind of supportive living includes people with learning or physical disabilities, people with mental health needs, people leaving hospital and need to live with someone for a short time to develop their confidence before going back home, older people, day support, respite support to give families and long term carers a break and Home share.
Evidence shows us that people enjoy life better when they spend time with people they choose to be with. Shared Lives can give people the support they need in an informal way, help people to develop and grow their skills, knowledge, opportunities, experiences and unique talents and in the process it can unite local communities, which people can have a greater role and involvement in.
Shared Lives is consistently rated as the safest and best form of social care and we want to encourage more people to benefit from this model of service.
Since becoming established in 1994, Bethphage has grown from strength to strength and continues to strive today. As a positive behaviour Organisation (PBO) we are truly person centred. Being a PBO runs throughout the whole organisation, informing how we treat each other from the people we support to our colleagues, guiding the development of policies and processes. Our person centred approach also enables us to work strategically with commissioners to develop bespoke provisions which achieves the desired outcome for people.

Essential requirements
  • Diploma Level three in Health and Social care.
  • Effective communicator
  • Effective Listener
  • Knowledge of PCP principles
  • Awareness of current legislation and CQC key lines of enquiry
  • Self confidence
  • Compassionate, Empathetic, and caring
  • Open and honest
  • Reliable
  • Committed to continuous improvement
  • Full driving licence and own vehicle
  • Working flexibly, including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays when the needs of the service demand it.

Desirable requirements
  • Level four or five in Health and Social care
  • Degree in Social work
  • Degree in Nursing
  • Ability to motivate others
  • Ability to research necessary information
  • Experience of accessing care and support needs and creating Person Centered Plans (PCP)
  • Ability to deal with challenging behaviour should the need arise.
