Counsellor with BAME speciality

Salary £22,000 for 28 hrs per week (£26,000 time rate).

The What? Centre in Stourbridge/Dudley Requires a counsellor with BAME speciality to work 28 hrs per week (during 1st  6 months may be 36 hours per week) to provide counselling and a range of tailored sessions specifically for BAME young people including creative arts and expressive arts. Contacting and working with BAME young people who are not accessing traditional mental health provision. Also, to work closely with CAMHS and the Local Authority and with partner organisations, be familiar with CORE and STAR Outcomes measurements. This post is led by The What? Centre and is a partnership bid made to VCSE Health and Wellbeing Fund. All details of the post and application form are on our website at thewhatcentre.co.uk. This post also requires reporting in to the Emotional Health and Wellbeing Meetings in the Borough and working closely with the other posts (already recruited) under this funding namely the LGBTQ+ Counsellor/Family Worker and the Loss worker based with The Phase Trust. We need someone qualified to at least Diploma level or Post Grad in counselling. As well as being a counsellor they must have skills in advocacy, relationship building with the community, considerable practice in working with young people. A knowledge of issues pertinent to BAME young people. They must be enthusiastic, have energy and creativity and an ability to progress the project. We would also like the candidate to be accredited by BACP or hold a Membership with BACP. Will be required to work Saturday mornings and at least one later evening per week.
