A newly built renewable energy plant in Warwickshire is looking for Shift Plant Operators to join the new team. You will be working for a well-established company who Design, Construct and Manage a number of Renewable Energy plants throughout the UK. The new 8.74MWe Steam Turbine, Steam Boiler and Steam auxiliary and ancillary plant built in Warwickshire, is used to support the burning of RDF for the production of power.
This role is critical to the effective operation of this energy facility. As a Shift Operator you will perform within the operations team running the plant onsite, and monitoring via SCADA, you will also assist in routine maintenance in both the central control room and main plant, to ensure smooth running of the new facility.
Suitable candidates are expected to have a positive attitude and a hands-on approach to work. You will be expected to work closely with the Shift Team Leaders and the fuel handlers. You will also be involved in the plant scheduled maintenance. Ideal candidates will be able to show previous experience in the operational control of large steam boiler plant, Generation, Flue Gas Treatment, SSOW, CEMS equipment and all other associated auxiliary systems.
Your main duties will include: -
* Adhering to all company policies and procedures at all times
* Contractor engagement and supervision on site
* Monitor the plant using SCADA
* Ensuring fuel stocks are controlled
* Shift cover in the event of sickness or training
* Optimisation of plant performance
* Plant parameters monitoring (SCADA)
* Accurate record keeping
* Environmental reporting of incidents to line management
* Managing housekeeping
The candidate profile: -
* Qualified to ONC level / NVQ (or equivalent) in an appropriate Engineering/ process discipline. Preferably a hands-on operator/ engineer with good experience gained in the Energy from Waste, Biomass, Power Station, Steam boilers, Chemical, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical or Marine industries.
* Sound understanding of process flow
* Experience of monitoring via SCADA
* Effective worker, with a 'can do' attitude
* Good numeracy skills, including the ability to interpret basic spreadsheets
* Appropriate IT skills (confident use of Word, Excel etc.)
* Good knowledge of Incineration and Power Generation or similar industry would be advantageous
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with colleagues, suppliers
