Production Engineer

Prime Objective:

To provide day to day production engineering support to the shop floor to deliver finished product to the required Quality, Cost & Delivery. Using and developing modern CAD/CAM Systems to deliver work class production processes.

General Responsibilities/Requirements:
  • Support the Business Growth in delivering smooth & effective Data and Information to the shop floor
  • Achievement of KPI targets for, Quality, Cost, Delivery and Versatility
  • Ensures all improvements are geared towards the business strategy of lead time reduction using QRM principles
  • Use of SMED techniques to reduce time waste during setups
  • Has extensive knowledge of Modern CAD/CAM software and 'Best Practice'
  • Manufacturing methodologies
  • Creating production CNC programs & proving out if needed
  • Can deal with constraints or secures support/assistance from their peers or the
  • Manufacturing team to help when needed
  • Promote high level of housekeeping throughout manufacturing environment and supports the 5S standard
  • Ensures processes tools and techniques that are used are constantly developed to ensure the best technology is always used and challenged
  • Identify ways to reduce waste at every level
  • Work closely with our Design Engineers in order to optimize designs for machining (DFM)
  • Supporting production on their daily targets and advise Production Team Leaders & setters to ensure smooth machining processes
  • Delivering process documentation (PFMEA, Control Plans, Flow Charts & Process docs e.g. tooling Layout etc)
  • Specifying designs for fixtures & tooling for in house or subcontract manufacture

Role Related Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Personal Attributes
  • Qualifications or Functional Experience
  • Ideally degree qualified with experience of Manufacturing/production Engineering experience, gained within a low to medium volume high quality CNC machining environment.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of Turning and Milling processes

System or Knowledge
  • Able to work with IT systems and possess a good level of PC literacy.
  • Experience of working with CAD & CAM packages ideally with knowledge of complete implementation
