A specialist setting in Telford is looking for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis, primarily until summer but likely continuing into September.

Pupils in the setting are aged from Early Years to KS3 and all have an EHCP for SEMH, with many having secondary issues. Classes are small in the school and staff to pupil ratios are high.

School are looking for someone who is experienced with SEMH/children's mental health, who has a friendly approach and strong behaviour management. There is a focus on de-escalation in school over physical restraint.

Members of staff are given a lot of flexibility in how they work, with SLT allowing you to build and action your own plan for pupil development and progression.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide academic and pastoral support to pupils across school
  • Support teaching staff in school with behaviour management
  • Work with key pupils on development

Required Skills & Experience:
  • ESSENTIAL - Previous experience within an SEND setting
  • ESSENTIAL - Strong behaviour management, with evidence of experience with de-escalation (training or experience)
  • ESSENTIAL - A "team player" attitude with a positive and flexible approach to work
  • DESIRED - Experience with SEMH
