A specialist school in Redditch is looking to meet with enthusiastic Teaching Assitants who are looking for day to day or long-term work within SEND. SEND experience isn't absolutely essential, but you must be able to evidence your suitability to working in their school.

The school caters for pupils with ASD, with most pupils having secondary difficulties with communication and some pupils with PMLD. The age groups are 11-19 although pupils are grouped by ability and needs. The school is a challenging one, with many pupils exhibiting challenging behaviour at times.

Team Teach and Advanced Team Teach training is advantageous, but not essential. Other training used by the school include Makaton, PECS and Manual Handling.

School are looking to meet Teaching Assistants for either bank work or longer term, and are particularly keen to meet with newly qualified TA's who are looking for their first SEND placements, or to build on existing experience.

They are looking to work with people straightaway but also in September, so please get in touch for more information regardless of your availability.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead classes of ASD or PMLD pupils
* Follow planning left by the teacher on day to day work, or provide your own planning and resources
* Liaise with speech therapists, physios and other external professionals where needed

Required Skills & Experience:

* ESSENTIAL - Some experience within SEND
* ESSENTIAL - A "team player" attitude with a positive and flexible approach to work
* DESIRED - Experience with PMLD and/or complex needs
