TEACHER OF MANDARIN CHINESE

(PART-TIME)

Concord College is England’s premier co-educational boarding school set in the heart of the Shropshire countryside with 600 students aged 13-19.  Historic buildings sit alongside our state-of-the-art facilities which include areas providing extra-curricular activities, sport and recreation.  We are truly international with upwards of 40 nationalities represented, which creates a wonderfully diverse community.

Academic achievement at Concord College is exceptional.  In 2019, students achieved 85% 7-9 (A*/A) at GCSE and 84% A*/A at A level.  We are also delighted that over 120 students have been offered places at Oxford and Cambridge over the last six years.

We wish to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic part-time Teacher of Mandarin Chinese.

The successful candidate will be capable of teaching Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese to A level, principally to native or near-native speakers of Chinese, and prepare them effectively for all aspects of their A level examination. The classes will take place off timetable, on weekday evenings. In addition, the successful candidate will be capable of preparing native speakers and near-native speakers of Mandarin or Cantonese Chinese for the GCSE examination, and will conduct the speaking examination as teacher-examiner. These classes will also take place off timetable, after 4pm. A willingness to contribute to the broader life of the College is expected.

We offer a generous remuneration package which includes a salary significantly above Main Scale, duty payments, free meals, Teachers’ Pensions and a pro rata contribution to private health insurance.

The closing date for applications is midday Friday 27 September 2019. Interviews will be held during the week commencing 30 September 2019.
