Pertemps are looking for an Assistant Caretaker for a well know school based in Telford for a long term sickness cover.

Main Duties:
- Unlocking and re-locking whole school site, ensuring the building/classrooms are secure and alarms are set
- Ensure that all furniture arrangements and accommodation requests are in place on time, especially for events and lettings, including erection and dismantling of staging/exam desks for school productions
- Upkeep and general care of the school
- General maintenance and minor repair work including: doors, windows, toilet seats and flushes, furniture, tap washers and some painting of doors and walls. (This list is not exhaustive, but an example)
- One off projects, to include DIY, wood work and other labour
- Appropriate painting and redecoration
- General porterage duties and moving of furniture
- Assisting colleagues/hirers with simple tasks as requested
- Checking damage/security on arrival/departure of the premises and report any findings
- Preparation of Hall for functions as required
- Cleaning and tidying of the internal/external school building in designated areas
- Ensuring that the cleaning of toilets and toilet areas is completed and the replenishment of toiletries is carried out
- Ensure that all refuse is disposed of promptly and stored away from the main building
- Ensure that clear passage is maintained on fire escape routes Report any defects of building, furniture, fittings and equipment to the Facilities Manager
- Open and close the school for evening use at times arranged by the Headteacher
- Make safe any hazards and ensure that the area is cordoned off
- Keep paths, entrances free of ice and snow to ensure the safety of children, parents, staff and visitors
- Any other work requested by, and deemed appropriate by the Headteacher and Facilities Manager
- Ability to work professionally and remain courteous with a calm approach in difficult and high pressure situations
- Complying with systems, policies, procedures and resource constraints
- Register as main Key Holder and be a point of contact in an emergency callout situation
- Undertake research and obtain information to inform decisions
- Be responsible for own health and safety as well as colleagues/visitors

- Contribute to overall ethos/work/aims of school
- Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required
- Recognise own strengths and areas of expertise and use these to advise and support others
- Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and GDPR, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person

The Hours will be 37 Hours Monday - Friday
But you may have some overtime hours at night or weekends if their is school activities.

You must have a Valid DBS Check.
