Database Administrator (DBA)
Working for a leading force in the provision of innovative data driven business solutions, with more than 20 years' experience working across the globe.
The purpose of this role is to be a key member of the DBA team, responsible for the day to day administration of company databases, including monitoring, maintenance and upgrading, ensuring that they fully support the current and future requirements of the business.
Duties will/may include:
??Installing/ upgrading Microsoft SQL Server.
??Database capacity monitoring and reporting.
??Performing and administering Database Backup/Restore operations.
??Deploy, monitor and manage data replication across diverse systems.
??Implementing agreed security models to provide required levels of permissions and access to databases and objects within them.
??Proactive monitoring of Databases to identity potential performance problems before they cause business continuity issues and help to investigate, identify and resolve any performance issues.
??Perform database maintenance tasks to improve and maintain the performance and stability of databases; such as index, space fragmentation & optimiser statistics maintenance and database migration.
??Develop scripts for deployment of model changes, identified by the Data Modeller
??Contribute ideas and improvements to DBA roles and responsibilities to achieve companywide goals and drive efficiencies.
??Provide DBA Service Desk support to all areas of the business and provide out of hours support, when required.
??Experience of using Microsoft SQL Server, including knowledge of features such as Server Configuration, Backup/Restore, Transactional Replication, Index maintenance, security, auditing, and performance monitoring
??Experience of using Microsoft SQL Server T-SQL, including writing of Stored Procedures, Triggers, etc.
??Knowledge and experience of using PowerShell.
??Accomplished communication skills and an ability to converse with a variety of internal and external users both technical and non-technical
??A willingness to work independently when required and to drive forward innovations
??A flexible approach to suit business requirements
Whilst not essential, beneficial skills/knowledge include:
??Knowledge of Performance Tuning of SQL Server.
??Understanding of Database Backup/Recovery/HA/DR architectures and design.
??Knowledge of Redgate SQL Clone.
??Knowledge of administering cloud-based databases.
??Knowledge and use of SSRS & SSIS.
