Our client is a specialist manufacturer of timer components for the joinery and building industries. They are currently looking for a Maintenance and Tooling Engineer. This role will suit someone who wants a varied job, with the responsibility and scope to help improve the company's manufacturing capability.

Responsibilities

Planned and reactive maintenance of machinery
Maintenance of tooling - daily regrinding of cutters
Optimisation of production machinery
Housekeeping of engineering/tooling room, tooling storage
Building maintenance
Engineering improvement projects
Main Duties

Oversee the execution of all engineering & tooling activities.
Provide motivation and support to production staff with regard to tooling and machine setups, when required.
Liaise with Production Team Leader and management personnel, attend morning production meetings to assist in prioritising engineering activity.
Liaise with contractors & suppliers to ensure engineering work, projects, breakdowns, tooling issues are completed / supplied to the required standard & timescale.
Maintain tooling to the highest possible standard & availability level. Organise and carry out a planned refurbishment / sharpening routine in conjunction with the production schedule.
Ensure a high standard of housekeeping for all areas under control of the Production Engineer.
Complete engineering / tooling projects & targets to agreed timescale & cost parameters.
Apply all aspects of the "Quality System" associated with the post.
Constantly seek out ways to improve production processes & tooling in order to improve output, reliability, quality & safety.
Complete planned maintenance activities to schedule & timescale, ensuring machines are maintained to their optimum level.
Ensure an adequate stock of critical spare parts is always available.
Provide a rapid response to machine breakdowns, tooling emergencies & critical machine safety problems.
Assist with other activities as required by the Production Team Leader.
Ensure all expenditure is to agreed budgets and prices and liaise with purchasing.
Respond to new initiatives as required by the demands of the role.
Organise and ensure building maintenance is carried out as required
Essential Qualifications and Previous Training

Engineering Maintenance Level 3 or equivalent - qualified to carry out fitting, wiring and testing equipment/circuits, maintaining electrical, mechanical and fluid power equipment.

Essential Experience

The candidate will have carried out at least three years prior experience in a similar role where they have had responsibility for day to day maintenance of machinery

Good problem-solving skills
Able to work on own or as part of a team
Awareness of health and safety legislation
Good eyesight and normal colour vision
Computer literate - able to use Microsoft Word and Excel to basic standard for the purposes of record keeping.
Must have current full driving license
In Job Training

In order to carry out the above tasks the company will provide training in:

Day to day tool servicing - training in the use of a Weinig Profile Grinding Machine and Optical Measuring Stand.
Set-up and Operation of Production Machines - to assist with maintenance and daily tool care, training will be given on our production machinery.
