This post will join the team based at our Coleshill & Buscot Estate Office working alongside the senior building surveyor, conservation and property colleagues, managing the West Oxfordshire Portfolio which extends to approximately 9,000 acres, 200 residential properties including 3 villages, 11 complete working farms and 700 acres of woodland.
Our West Oxfordshire Portfolio includes one of the largest let estates in the National Trust, which includes the Buscot and Coleshill Estates and villages, the internationally-renowned White Horse Hill as well as mansions such as Ashdown House, Chastleton House and Buscot Park.
Please note this is a 7 month fixed term contract.

From repairs and maintenance to major works and projects, the Trust's Building Profession within our internal Consultancy is at the forefront of their care. As a building technician role you'll provide support to colleagues in all aspects of building surveying.
We are looking for a building technician to support colleagues in all aspects of building surveying. You will have expertise and knowledge, combined with up to date technical skills and the ability to bring an innovative, client focussed and entrepreneurial approach to building surveying.
What you'll be doing
You'll bring your commitment to developing theoretical knowledge and experience to the maintenance and repairs at our properties. Assisting in a consultancy service, you'll respond to requests for information, advice and hands-on support to meet the needs and demands of your clients, including our tenants. This will give you the opportunity to assist with all aspects of building surveying work including areas such as the co-ordination of building condition surveys, preparation of specifications and drawings. You will also be involved in delivering a range of work including, measurement, maintenance planning, reactive maintenance, contractor supervision, health and safety inspections, preparing CAD drawings, applications for planning permission and listed building consent.
You'll develop knowledge of managing risk and compliance and with your passion for conservation and sustainability you'll champion our work.
Who we're looking for
You will ideally be working towards relevant professional qualification e.g. Chartered Surveyor, MRICS, MCIOB. To be successful in this role you'll need to have:
- RICS Accredited degree/ qualification in Building Surveying or Building Conservation/ Construction.
- Theoretical knowledge of relevant legislative requirements relating to the role.
- A clear client focus, with excellent listening, communication and presentation skills.
- The ability to build strong working relationships across your region.
- Desire to develop a knowledge of building conservation, maintenance and repair.
- Able to demonstrate expertise in data handling and the production of technical information.
- A methodical approach to data collection, recording, retrieval and working accurately to deadlines.
A clean driving licence will be essential.
