JOB DESCRIPTION FOR: ALTERNATIVE PROVISION MENTOR

LOCATION: TELFORD

JOB TITLE: ALTERNATIVE PROVISION MENTOR

SALARY: COMPETITIVE, dependent on experience

HOURS: FULL TIME 37 hours per week (term time +1 week), 8:00am - 4:30pm

THE ROLE: Our client is seeking to appoint an Alternative Provision Mentor to join them in delivering their alternative provision unit. Alternative Provision Mentors provide support and guidance to children, young people and those engaged with them, by removing barriers to learning in order to promote effective participation, enhance individual learning and raise aspirations in order for the pupils to achieve their full potential.

Are you/Do you Have:

A proven track record of working with children and young people
Ability to engage constructively with and relate to a wide range of children, young people and families/carers
Ability to work effectively and command the confidence of senior management, teaching and other staff within the Academy
Ability to assess and review children/young people and family circumstances
A Behaviour and/or Children's Mental Health Specialist
Knowledge of KS3 and KS4 Science and Maths curriculum
Background in counselling, youth work, careers and/or social services
Reliability, integrity and confidentiality

Key responsibilities of the role:

Be responsible for the daily management of ADAPT in conjunction with Head of Alternative Provision
Ensure that the standards of behaviour and dress for all ADAPT pupils complies with Academy policies and expectations
Ensure that all pupils are present, punctual and prepared to work
Provide support for staff who are delivering the curriculum and supporting pupils in their learning
Instigate and maintain close, regular parental contact, liaise with parents and Academy staff for all pupils within ADAPT to support the Head of Alternative Provision
Check, monitor and maintain progress of pupilsThis is not an exhaustive list of requirements and responsibilities.
