Role summary:
The Construction Manager has the overall accountability to ensure that construction activities at the company meet EH&S, quality, schedule and cost requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
•Responsible for the successful planning, execution, supervision and completion of the Construction activities, meeting requirements of contracts, specifications and standards. This role is the focal point in the Construction Management team and coordinates with project stakeholders and business functions to achieve the project goals.
•Coordinates all site activities, including site set up, groundwork & concreting, erection & cladding plus other construction processes through to completion. They develop the Construction Management staffing plan and organization and ensure that the budget reflects the plan. They work with the Project Manager on resolving discrepancies, whilst at all times ensuring budgets are delivered.
•Provides Construction expertise during all stages of a project. They add value by applying appropriate Construction technology and Constructability techniques.
•Responsible for developing and implementing all Construction Safety related plans according to the companies EH&S requirements and work processes. They lead and drive a zero-incident culture and champion the use of Construction Safety best practices. They ensure proper safety introduction and training for all personnel on the Construction site.
•Ensures the development and the implementation of Quality Assurance and Quality Control plans. They have final responsibility for meeting the specified Construction quality standards and requirements. They ensure appropriate involvement of experts and the final acceptance by client, authorities and any notified bodies.
•Responsible for the definition of major construction sequences and for the development of construction schedules integrated into the overall project schedule. During execution they are responsible that schedules are monitored as required and controlled to ensure "safety at all times" with delivery "on time" and "on budget".
•Ensures that Construction cost are monitored, controlled and that the intended financial outcome is achieved. This includes the management of all changes and additions and the release for payments after work and invoice acceptance.
•Responsible for managing communication with nominated sub-contractors and within the internal project organization; this includes in particular a regular look ahead and status reporting.
•Ensures continuous documentation of relevant project data, decisions and events that impact the site activities. They take immediate initiative to resolve conflicts, to prevent and avoid claims or cost overruns. As part of this they will produce a weekly site update confirming status of each site in respect of safety, programme and budget.
•Upon practical completion of each project the Construction Manager ensures proper handover to the client according to the defined sign off requirements.
Following financial completion, chair a "washup" meeting [for every project] with all company stakeholders to confirm financial and operational outcomes. Additionally, ensuring any lessons learned are carried forward to improve future financial and operational outcomes and to enhance best practice going forward
