Our client a market leading Engineering company are looking for a Health & Safety Officer to join their HSE department on a permanent basis. As the Health & safety Officer you will be responsible for planning, establishing, implementing, and maintaining a variety of health, safety and welfare programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for employees. The successful candidate will be a self-starting leader who enjoys the challenges of daily involvement with an operation and maintenance team.

Other working requirements:

·Ensuring that Health & Safety procedures are adhered to across company sites.

·Assisting in the preparation of documentation for government bodies and for insurance purposes.

·Assisting in the implementation of new processes to reduce incidents.

·Carrying out DSE Assessments with all PC users

·Carrying out monthly safety tour inspections and follow up on actions

·Carrying out accident/incident investigations from first notification

·Assisting in the completion of relevant risk assessments and safe systems of work.

·Carry out new starter HSE inductions

·Carry out toolbox talks (refresher training, revised risk assessments, SSOW)

·Assist in the arranging of mandatory training and health surveillance

·Carrying out routine inspections, safety tours, including collating evidence and taking samples as necessary

·Investigating and resolving complaints in the work environment

·Ensuring compliance with legislation and making sure that an employer is not being negligent with regards to the safety of its staff

·Assisting in the maintaining of the Health and Safety Management System and to manage the Master Action List.

·Play an active role in any internal meetings to drive a positive health and safety culture.

Skills Required

·Knowledge of ISO 18001 Management Systems

·Excellent communication skills.
Effective problem solving / analytical and project delivery skills required.
Knowledge and experience of the development of risk assessments and safe systems of work

·Knowledge of excel spreadsheets

·High level of interpersonal skills
