Salary: £31,696 per annum (pro rata if part time).

This is an exciting time to join the Ministry of Defence. We have an opportunity for a self-motivated and experienced Senior Mental Health Social Worker, who thrives on a challenge, to join our team at Department of Community Mental Health, Donnington, Telford. Please note that in addition to the annual salary you will be eligible for a £2000 Market Skills Supplement per annum (pro rata if part time) which is subject to review and can be removed at any time.

About You

Defence Mental Health Social Work services are looking for an enthusiastic and highly skilled Social Worker who is used to working in a fast paced, changing environment and who will contribute to the service development and delivery through their innovative ideas. You will also bring with you:

• Substantial post qualifying multi agency experience

• A host of mental health knowledge base and skills.

• Recognised professional social work qualification (Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent).

The Role

Defence Mental Health Social Work Service provides comprehensive, tri-service mental health social work interventions, therapy, support and advice for military mental health patients and eligible veterans. We play an important role in the social and psychological recovery of military mental health patients in order for them to return to full operational fitness.

You will be a member of a multi professional team with your own caseload and will need to work proactively and independently with a clear understanding of the social work role and professional boundaries within a healthcare setting.

In addition, Defence Mental Health Social Workers support personnel to transition into civilian life and support services following a medical discharge.

Please be aware that this post has a requirement that the successful candidate will need a full UK drivers licence.

As the successful candidate, you must be an appropriately qualified and experienced Mental Health Social Work Practitioner. Be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), Scottish Social Services Council, The Care Council for Wales or Northern Ireland Social Care Council, a degree in Social Work or equivalent DipSW/CQSW and an understanding and working knowledge of all relevant social care legislation - MHA (83), MCA (05) Inc DOLS, Care Act 14, ECHR (98) Adult and Children Safeguarding Policies.
