Our client, a well-established business, is recruiting for an Environmental Consultant.

The successful Environmental Consultant, under general supervision, will perform project management support to the application standard principles and evaluate and select methods of basic project work and certain areas of more complex project work, and will apply specialist technical skills to more complex and multidisciplinary assignments.

The successful Environmental Consultant responsibilities will be:
  • To provide technical input to the Environmental Planning and Process Permitting Department in respect of pollution prevention and control, Environmental Permitting, waste management licensing, environmental risk assessments, environmental audits and legislation as appropriate to the level of experience
  • To carry out site work as necessary including site inspections, walkover surveys and environmental monitoring
  • Design environmental monitoring plans, carry out environmental monitoring, review monitoring data and prepare reports presenting an interpretation of the data
  • To liaise with clients in order to convey information regarding relevant projects or investigations
  • To carry out environmental impact assessment modelling such as landfill gas risk assessments, atmospheric emission and dispersion modelling
  • Review of external documents, databases and reports to collate and present information for the project assessment
  • Preparation of databases of field and laboratory information, recording and management of data in various formats, carry out the analysis and presentation of data, checking data / information in accordance with the Company quality management systems and/or managing and checking the information prepared by colleagues
  • Undertake the application of risk assessments models to assess the potential risks to controlled water, environment and human health associated with land and groundwater contamination and waste management facilities and providing technical support and checking the technical work of colleagues
  • Responsible for the preparation of databases of field testing and laboratory data, making sure that information is carefully and precisely recorded and managed data in various formats

The successful Environmental Consultant must have the following Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
  • Minimum BSc qualification in relevant subject area
  • Experience in mineral operations and waste management facilities is desirable
  • CIWM membership is desirable
  • Ability to supervise site works
  • High standards of written work
  • Computer literate
  • Experience of working with Quality Management Systems
  • Experience of project management and financial control including preparing and working to budgets
  • Good communication and team working skills
  • Good project administrative and organisational skills
  • UK Driving Licence
