Crest Nicholson Midlands are looking for an experienced Senior Buyer or Buying Manager to join their new Midlands Division, to manage the buying and scheduling of materials to a growing portfolio of sites across Herefordshire, West Midlands, Warwickshire and Leicestershire.

In this role you will prepare accurate quantities and material schedules, competitively source and co-ordinate the supply of plant and materials required for development projects. You will proactively work with suppliers, inspect site and manage any issues that arise within procurement.

This is a fantastic opportunity where a senior applicant will be building a team around them as the region grows, although we will consider less senior applicants with the right aptitude and approach.

The core responsibilities in this role will be to prepare accurate quantities and material schedules, competitively sourcing and co-ordinating the supply of plant and materials required for your projects.

Reporting to the Commercial Executive, you will be supervising the processes and overall contracts management, supporting the business strategy.

You will also manage all tender documentation, pricing and trading agreements and quotations, ensuring your team deliver on time, meeting tight deadlines. Forecasting costs and estimates on a monthly basis along with regular cost reviews with the wider Build team will be essential in this role to work effectively.

As the Buying lead, you will provide feedback and guidance on cost and buildability to the Technical team, working closely with other disciplines to continue product development and value engineering.

You will act as a role model by supervising, coaching and mentoring your sub function within the Commercial team, made up of Apprentices, Graduates, Buyers and close liaison with the Surveying and Estimating sub functions.

* Experienced Buyer with strong Construction experience

* Having worked in either volume housebuilding or Residential Contracting

* Excellent budget control and cost analysis skills

* Thrives working in a fast paced environment

* Great interpersonal skills

* Coaching and mentoring capability

* Able to take the initiative

* Supportive of your team and can adapt to different styles of learning and working within the team

* Excellent time management skills, working to tight deadlines

* Advanced Microsoft Excel and IT skills

* Strong communication skills

* Team player

* Relevant Construction qualifications

This role will be working from our Tamworth office with travel to sites as necessary.
