We are currently recruiting for a Charge Nurse for our Phoenix House Hospital which provides a specialist rehabilitation pathway of services for service users with complex mental health issues such as schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder or depression and associated conditions. The service also provides specialist mental health crisis and rehabilitation support for women with complex mental health needs and/ or personality disorder.
Annual Salary: GBP34,083 Benefits:

Our Charge Nurse role involves:
  • Adhering at all times to the NMC code of professional conduct.
  • Conducting a legal, ethical, and accountable practice and remaining open to the scrutiny of peers.
  • Respecting the rights of others sensitively and with regard to issues of equality and diversity.
  • Promoting and ensuring that each member of the team works to the standards of ethical practice.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, government and local policy and best practice including the Mental Health Act. Clinical Governance and Standards for Better Health.
  • Ensuring adherence to health, safety and security legislation, and policy.
  • Managing sensitive, highly complex, and contentious communication, referring complex issues as appropriate.
  • Ensuring the use of effective communication to promote the organisation to external bodies.
  • Ensuring all patients have comprehensive evidence based risk management plan.
  • Participating in and ensuring involvement in pre-admission assessment of referred patients.
  • Acting as mentor/preceptor and ensure the development of student nurses and other team members.
  • Assessing staff nurses within the competency development programme.
  • Acting as clinical supervisor and ensuring that all staff participates in clinical supervision.
  • Monitoring, evaluating, and ensuring effective use of resources within set budgets.
  • Participating in local on call arrangements
  • Applying Safeguarding policies
To be successful as a Charge Nurse, you'll need:
  • RMN / RNLD.
  • Recognised Mentorship certification.
  • NVQ Assessor Qualification.
  • Demonstrable post registration experience.
  • Experience of working in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience of secure environment and interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • Experience of assessing and teaching junior staff.
