Cloud Support Engineer - Windows, SQL Server, Azure

Stafford, Staffordshire - Commutable from Stoke, Cannock, Wolverhampton, Lichfield, Sutton Coldfield, Ashbourne and Telford

GBP35,000 - GBP40,000 + Bonus + Great benefits

Leading International Software Solutions Vendor (Work Flow and BI Systems) requires experienced 2nd/3rd line Application support person with good MS SQL Skills to support worldwide customer managed Cloud based services (Azure)

The Role:

Taking ownership and become the subject matter expert for specific technologies and solutions within managed services

Take ownership of agreed service areas

Contribute ideas and effort towards assigned service improvement initiatives and related road map delivery projects

Ensure service availability SLA's are met through active management of risks, issues and supplier service management

Manage the process of on-boarding customers by clear communications of customer requirements, pre-sales and project start up

Support customers in resolving connection issues and any implementing necessary IT changes i.e. SQL configuration

Ensure the maintenance and handover of customer environment details and supporting documentation

Provide support to customers for related projects, including user and security group setup and maintenance, static data maintenance and database backup and restore

Ensure customer environments are maintained in line with contractual agreements for product upgrades, maintenance releases and application hot-fixes

Ensure customer environment resources (disk, RAM, CPU etc) are appropriately and adequately specified

Agree and maintain under change control, reference and development environment specifications

Manage the resolution of any issues or vulnerabilities

Maintain reference environments with host suppliers for the purpose of disaster recovery, fail-over and penetration/vulnerability testing

Support and facilitate any customer requests for penetration and/or vulnerability testing

Ensure up to date process and technical documentation is in place for the team

Required Skills and Experience:

Strong technical background in SQL Server 2008 and 2012 (Essential) 2014/16 (Desirable)

Strong understanding of T-SQL writing

Strong working knowledge of SQL server maintenance and troubleshooting fragmentation, maintenance plans, extended events/profiler

Working knowledge of SSRS

Working knowledge of sFTP programs such as FileZilla or winSCP

Working knowledge of WAN/LAN environment and terminology

Good understanding of network architecture including Cloud based services

Good technical background, especially Microsoft technologies

Must have excellent interpersonal/customer relation experience

Working within a Cloud Service Environment

Knowledge of IT security requirements: ISO 27001/9001

Excellent communication skills

Have a keen sense of urgency and take responsibility of incidents.

To be self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision

Problem solving techniques

Previous experience of working with Microsoft Azure is desirable
