One of the UK's leading FMCG organisations is looking for an experienced SAM Manager to drive their Software Asset Management team forward across the country.

Ideally with a 'battle-hardened' background and experience driving the efficiency of the £100m+ licensing spend through risk assessment and continuous improvement.

You will be responsible for software licensing and compliance, optimisation and SAM tools across the Technology division as well as laying out strategies to avoid legal complications related to software licensing whilst being the SME and trusted advisor in said domain.

The position will ideally be based in Coventry or Milton Keynes but London applicants will also be considered. There would be a need to travel between the three sites on a semi-regular basis.

The role also comes with an extensive and attractive benefits package on top of a competitive salary.

What you need to know:
  • Practical experience and a deep knowledge of SAM practices and their application within a complex environment.(SAM, HAM, Config. Management, AD, etc)
  • Broad knowledge of all area SAM touches such as procurement, commercial management, Active Directory, application packaging, application delivery, legal, project management , policies and procedures, etc
  • A full understanding of ISO 19770-1 and 19770-2
  • Proficient in the control and management/costs of IT assets (or configuration items) including hardware, software, documentation, services & suppliers
  • In depth knowledge and experience around licensing models for the large publishers particularly IBM, Oracle, Microsoft and SAP.
  • Experience of reviewing technical design specification documents and being able to provide advice and guidance on the most effective licencing models to suit the need
  • Innovative approach to complex licence issues. Either with regards to new purchasing requirements or with noncompliance issues
  • In depth experience of interpreting licensing terms and conditions in contracts

What you need to show:
  • Relentlessly focus on balancing license risk and efficiency with the need to deliver customer value and business outcomes at pace. You should be continuously optimising your team structure, ways of working and culture to ensure that we are set up to deliver customer value in as effective and efficient a way as possible.
  • Sound judgement to make sometimes difficult and complex decisions at pace. You should be comfortable dealing with ambiguous situations and help drive toward clarity.
  • A passion for technology, and experience in leading complex and at times ambiguous license audit negotiations and processes with our large suppliers
  • Helping your teams to perform at their best by ensuring that the business outcomes are clearly understood. You should support your teams by unblocking issues and offering advice and guidance.
  • Results orientation, with a bias for action that is deeply informed by evidence based decision making. You will need to embed evidence based decision making practice throughout your team.
