St Johns in Bromsgrove are looking to recruit a Kitchen Assistant for 20 hours per week and to also work 8 hours per week as a Cook.

Kitchen Assistant rate of pay is £8.21 - 8.69 per hour depending on levels of qualification.

Cook rate of pay is £9.68 - £10.12 per hour depending on levels of qualifications.

You will put the residents nutritional health and wellbeing at the heart of everything you do. As a Kitchen Assistant you will assist with the preparation and serving of meals to our residents, ensuring all special dietary needs are met and prepare texture modified food as directed. You will maintain records and control stock rotation, ensure the kitchen and service areas are clean and hygienic at all times.

As a cook you will prepare various quality meals from our menus, you will promote and monitor food hygiene and safety standards and clean the kitchen to a high standard.

You will have interaction with residents and visitors; therefore we are looking for someone who is friendly, approachable and passionate.

We are interested in hearing from applicants who are interested in working in both positions or just Kitchen Assistant position.

About you

Experience in the catering environment, you should have good judgement, problem solving and a food handling course qualification and NVQ or equivalent in catering if you are interesting in the combined cook and kitchen assistant role.

If you are interested in the Kitchen Assistant role only, experience in the catering industry is desirable but not essential.

You will be expected to work within our staff values and promote these at all times by being an effective communicator, passionate about your work, encouraging team working and having a positive attitude. Overall, you'll be compassionate, excellent communicator and determined to deliver quality care whilst inspiring your team around you.
