Hours

36.25 hours per week Monday to Friday.

Part time applicants will also be considered for 21.75 hours per week (pro rata).

General Description:

The Business Development Manager will focus on developing and coordinating the preparation of commercial proposals and grant applications for EAP and CoST. They will lead on building the growing portfolio of existing donors and clients for both organisations and cultivating new relationships with the support of the Executive Director and Director of Programmes. They will support CoST - the Infrastructure Transparency (CoST) members and EAP partners to develop funding proposals.

Key responsibilities and tasks:

Manage the development of commercial and non-commercial funding (50%)

??Research commercial and non-commercial funding opportunities.

??Prepare commercial and non-commercial proposals, including drawing on internal expertise as and when required.

??Use EAP and CoST's monitoring, reporting and learning frameworks to inform donor meetings and develop effective proposals.

??Establish relationships with potential partners and build consortiums that can bid for commercial and non-commercial work.

??Represent EAP and CoST when meeting potential funders, clients and partners.

Oversee contract negotiations, handover and compliance (20%)

??Support the contract negotiations following a successful proposal and manage the handover to the delivery team.

??Support contractual compliance to ensure that EAP adheres to the requirements of its clients in a timely manner, including the preparation of narrative and financial reports.

Developing accurate records, monitoring and capacity (20%)

??Keep up to date files and records of all institutional funding activities, including updating the funding pipeline and filing system regularly with organisations, contacts, proposals made, donor responses, contracts and reports.

??Monitor and evaluate bid success to ensure ongoing proposals are effective, and regularly meet with the Director of Programmes to discuss this evaluation.

??Build the capacity of CoST members to raise funding for their programmes.

Support the programmes function on certain tasks, such as managing the competitive application process for CoST for grant funding to member programmes (10%)

Experience

At least 3 years' experience in:

??Preparing and successfully winning commercial proposals and grant applications for bilateral and multilateral donors and foundations.

??Building consortiums and effectively co-ordinating multiple stakeholders.

??Successfully influencing stakeholders and colleagues at all levels.

??Managing financial information.

??Working with DFID (desired)

??Working with foundations.

Essential Attributes:

A Masters degree (minimum) in engineering and/or international development or a related subject.

Ability to win grant funding and consultancy contracts.

Highly motivated with an ability to meet deadlines and work within budgets.

Strong conceptual and analytical skills and an ability to think strategically and creatively.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Excellent partnership, influencing and diplomacy skills.

Ability to prioritise, plan and organise work.
