Our client in Coventry is looking for an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer to start ASAP.

They require an experienced IRO on a full time basis, working Monday to Friday, to provide independent scrutiny of Care Plans by chairing LAC Reviews, visiting children and young people who are Looked After, tracking progress of Care Plans between reviews and raising disputes regarding poor practice or planning as necessary.

The ideal candidate needs to have had previous experience as a Senior Practitioner or Team Manager, working within the Safeguarding arena as well as within the Care Planning arena, with sound knowledge and skills in managing this complex and challenging area of work. IRO experience is preferable.

The responsibilities of an IRO are:

To work to identify opportunities for improvements and the achievement and maintenance of high standards of quality and efficiency in the services.

To develop and improve personal skills through participation in, and contribution to, formal and informal staff development processes and training geared to meet the requirements of the post and the changing business requirements of the Department.

To supervise and assist the efficient and cost effective use of resources and to participate in performance review systems for Departmental services and other measures allied to the supply, monitoring and effective utilisation of management information connected with the postholder's field of work.

To ensure confidentiality of information in respect of records.

To apply for this position you must have:

* At least 2 years post-qualification experience (and 5 years of references)

* Social work degree or equivalent (MA/BA/BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work or CQSW)

* Experience working as an IRO / Team Manager

* HCPC Registration

* DBS

* Full, clean driving licence
