Senior Software Engineer - Brakes / Chassis Team Leader, Automotive, West Midlands, GBP46,000 - GBP51,900 Circa + benefits

Unknown recruitment is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Brakes / Chassis Team Leader to join a world leading provider of technology, product innovation, engineering solutions and strategic consulting to the world's automotive industries with a network of technical centres worldwide.

Reporting to the management team, this role has both a leadership function as well as a hands-on involvement in all activities within the Company chassis department relating to software. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate proven capability and experience in this field and will also have a broad understanding of software engineering of electronic and electromechanical systems in the automotive arena.

Your main tasks and responsibilities as Senior Software Engineer -Brakes / Chassis Team Leader will include:

* Realisation of embedded software for 8-, 16- and 32-bit microcontrollers using established company design practices and software life cycles in line with the ISO2001:2008 quality system and high integrity design standards;

• Generate work breakdown plans in order to assign individual project tasks to other software engineers on the project team;

• Liaise with project and functional management to establish priorities and resolve timing conflicts;

• Liaise with project and functional management to establish software feature content and requirements for baselines and customer releases;

• Allocate tasks to other software engineers on the project team and monitor progress to ensure that work is completed in a timely manner;

• Ensure the orderly progression of software integration by scheduling development tasks to reach completion according to a preplanned programme agreed with project and functional management;

• Interpretation of system requirements in collaboration with systems and hardware engineers to generate software requirements using SysML and/or UML;

• Code implementation using C/C++ programming languages, assembly language and automatic code generation from modelled environments;

• Generation and execution of test plans and reports at all levels of the "V" life cycle, including unit/structural tests, integration tests and verification/validation tests;

• Generation and formal review of technical documentation and artefacts from the design process;

• Participation in FMEA, HAZOP, FTA, and other analysis techniques;

• Ability to lead & manage a small team of engineers & co-ordinate with the wider SW community

Senior Software Engineer -Brakes / Chassis Team Leader requirements:

• Degree-qualified in an appropriate science or engineering discipline;

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role within an embedded system product development environment;

• Experience in programming using C, C++, C# and assembly languages;

• Experience with Autosar configuration tools (Especially Elektrobit, Vector or ETAS)

• Experience with the Infineon Aurix family of microcontrollers (preferably using the Tasking tools chain);

• Experience using requirements management and specification tools e.g. DOORS, Cradle, MKS Integrity;

• Experience using configuration management tools e.g. MKS;

• Experience with software analysis methodologies e.g. Yourdon SASD or UML;

• Experience using configuration management tools e.g. MKS;

• Experience with software analysis methodologies e.g. Yourdon SASD or UML;

• Experience in the use of model-based development tools e.g. Mathworks Simulink & Stateflow, dSpace TargetLink;

• Experience using software test verification tools e.g. Tessy;

• Experience with CAN-based test tools e.g. Canalyser, Canape, PCAN or ValueCAN;

• Good test and analysis skills;

• Good written and verbal communication skills;

• Proficiency with standard office tools: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc;

• A team player with the ability to work alone unsupervised;

• Highly-motivated and capable of working on multiple activities concurrently
