Our Client has secured one of the non-infrastructure frameworks at Severn Trent and has been allocated core, projects covering Waste Water in the South and East and Clean Water in the South of Severn Trent's service area.

Assistant or QS to provide cover.

What will I be doing?

Overall commercial responsibility for a number of projects ranging in value from 100k to 3 million.
Ability to control and apply rigor to multiple projects at any one point in time
Produce monthly cost reports, forecasts, spend profiles and budget reports and present to Project Manager / Senior QS
Review risk management and help assist with risk / opportunity strategy
Production and management of robust Action Plans
Accurate cost profiling to advise client on anticipated spend
Assisting in the estimating process by sending out subcontract enquiries to facilitate building up of the Target Price
Prepare outline Budget estimate for the purpose setting and agreement of the Target Price.
Produce Procurement schedule in line with standard template and update regularly during the procurement process
Send out enquiries using standard forms and commercially review tender returns once the Target Price has been set
Ability to communicate effectively with designers and engineers during the project to ensure we are applying the most effective approach especially during the subcontract preparation stage
Prepare, review and complete sub-contract documentation
Prepare, review and complete Material Requisition documents for supply only orders
Negotiate subcontract terms and apply company Best Practice procurement procedures
All subcontract administration from inception to final account, using Costain Best Practice tools and forms to authorise, monitor, assess and control at all stages
Apply robust change management process and cost control on all projects
Full project cost control including reconciliation of weekly plant & labour against budget & approval of such costs
Produce and monitor Commercial / Contractual correspondence and issues to reflect best practice
Assess & certify subcontractor interim applications for payment in accordance with the Contract.
Ensure adequate records are kept (diaries / allocation sheets etc)
Analyse Performance Review for subcontractors with Agent, Obtain 360-degree feedback from subcontractors regarding our performance
Awareness of the programme and ensure the Project is on track, issue EWN's to STW or the subcontractors where necessary to protect any negative impact on time/value of the project
Awareness of our KPI's and KPM's - ensure commercially all is done to protect our position

About you
Experience of the NEC form of contract
Degree or HNC in Quantity Surveying Desired, but optional.
Water experience would be great, but will consider all sectors
