History of the School
The King's School dates back to 1541, when it was re-founded on the orders of Henry VIII. It is one of England's leading academic day schools, and has two junior schools as part of its Foundation; it is co-educational throughout. There are approximately 960 pupils in the senior school, which is situated next to Worcester Cathedral and the River Severn.
King's St Alban's is adjacent to the main site and has approximately 200 pupils from age 4 to 11. It shares many of the facilities of the senior school. King's St Alban's celebrated its 65th anniversary in 2017 and will be opening the King's St Alban's Nursery in September 2019.
King's Hawford is just north of Worcester in spacious grounds and currently has approximately 325 children from Kindergarten to Year 6. The school was acquired by King's in 1996.
Roles and Responsibilities
The role of SMT Secretary is to provide a comprehensive secretarial and administrative provision to members of the Senior Management Team at the senior school. The role is unique in as much as the roles carried out offer a complete view of the day to day workings of the school from the overview of the calendar to the daily movements of staff in cover.
General secretarial and administrative assistance as required to include:-
Typing correspondence, taking and typing meeting notes, photocopying and distribution, maintaining Outlook calendars and arranging meetings where necessary
Assist with arrangements for regular events such as Open Mornings, Cathedral services, annual Charity fundraisers and sporting events
Arrange cover for absent teaching staff on a weekly basis using the cover software and also emergency cover when required making room changes as necessary
Maintain various records for INSET, safeguarding, sixth form driver details, etc as well as organising first aid training where required and book courses as requested
Put together and maintain the School calendars both paper and electronic on a termly and weekly basis
Maintain School trip records and collate weekly folder for the senior management team
Organisation of School, House and event photographs
Assisting in the organisation of Cathedral services
Assisting in the selection and training of Monitors
Liaison with members of the School and its surrounding community
Support the members of the Senior Management team to ensure the smooth running of the School
* Strong accurate administration skills and flexibility to work under pressure
* Excellent IT skills (including Word, Excel, databases)
* Ability to work unsupervised and on own initiative

* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

* Ability to work proactively and with attention to detail

* Flexibility is required
* Previous experience in a school environment
* Previous experience in a senior level role
* Educated to degree level
