About the Job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Machine Shop Manager performing Day to day running of machining engineering works - machine shop
As a Machine Shop Manager your duties will include:
You will manage the workshop. The key responsibilities will be to manage the machinists and fitters
Managing and Communicating with all company Clients
1.To control and manage the day to day production levels on the shop floor, to ensure that the targets are achieved.
2.To deliver quality products on time and within costs, to meet both internal and external customer requirements
3.Planning and Labour allocation within the Machine shop, maximising efficiency and ensuring production schedule is met
4.Be fully accountable for stock and WIP accuracy within your area
5.Ensure MRP System (4th Shift) transactions are updated on a daily basis (as a minimum).
6.Monitor and control labour, materials, waste, energy and consumables
7.Take the lead with regards to Health, Safety and the Environment within your area, ensuring 5S Standards are adhered too and actions from Hotspot activity boards are implemented.
8.Carry out regular team briefings, ensuring two way communications between shop floor and management.
9.Identify continuous improvement opportunities and ensure activities are achieved.
10 Develop, Coach and Mentor the Team Members in improving their own performance
11.Manager in Recruitment and Selection of new staff
13.Support the Director in daily role
14.Work cross functionally with the maintenance team to agree and implement a Program for Planned Preventative Maintenance
16.Administrative duties, to include monitoring and updating the time and attendance system, inputting Team Member holidays etc
17.Deputise for the Manager, by attending meetings etc in their absence.

Machine shop machinists, fitters
Managing projects, jobs and stock
Basic Health & Safety system (with Director)
Quality System - ISO 9001:2008
Responsible for the general day to day running of works

Experience/Knowledge:
Communicating with customers and suppliers
10+ years in machine shop environment
Knowledge of turning, milling
2+ years in foreman/supervisor role
