UK's leading designers and distributors of Fantasy and Gothic Giftware Giftware are looking to recruit an outstanding Artist/Product Developer to join their creative team.

You will be working within an in-house Creative team working on a variety of projects designing and developing giftware products to enhance and expand their product range. This includes creating initial concepts for products such as figurines, goblets, tankards etc, following the project and critiquing through the sculpting and painting stage, right up to final sample.

This role sits within the Creative and product development team whose goal is to drive business growth by developing and designing innovative and commercially focused products.

Duties and responsibilities

• The Artist/Product Developer (Giftware) will work alongside the Product and Purchasing Manager, Lead Artist/Product Developer and whole creative team to design, develop and manage products throughout production
• Covering all aspects of the role of Artist/Product Developer from generating initial concept design, final artwork creation, critiquing sculptures and product painting while learning the giftware market and industry
• Additionally, the Artist/Product Developer will encourage and maintain positive working relations with colleagues and suppliers, while meeting assignment requirements and deadlines. Successful performance in this position will result in a positive increase in the range of branded product available for worldwide sales
• Utilise Free Choice Design days to create new product ideas
• Taking responsibility for multiple projects
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines
• Ability to interpret briefs creatively
• Innovative ideas - be able to come up with own original ideas for products, as well as working with the many brands we have licenses with to create fantastic licensed giftware
• Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships and take responsibility in raising and maintaining the standards.
• Generate ideas for products; keep up to date with trends within the industry. Identifying and developing ranges from current successful lines
• Support the Creative Manager in design and marketing tasks where required.

Skills and experience

• Educated to degree level in Art/Design or equivalent design-related course preferred but not essential. Must have a strong portfolio
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines
• Strong digital Artwork and good concept design skills.
• Ability to interpret briefs creatively
• Innovative ideas
• High attention to detail
• Organised and motivated
• Knowledge and interest in fantasy art would be beneficial but not essential.
• Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and other Adobe packages
• Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous, but graduates will also be considered for this positon
