Manufacturing Engineer, Coventry, Competitive Salary Based on Experience

A global organisation is seeking a Process Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis to work at their site in Coventry.

Working in complex engineering environment the Process Engineer will be responsible for supporting all production requirements, as well as supporting business growth through the implementation of NPI projects and continuously improving manufacturing methods.

Other responsibilities include; Developing complex component assembly methods; Working closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to influence the design for manufacture on existing products and NPI; Developing / Updating Standard Operating Processes / Sheets for assembly and test processes; Designing assembly fixtures, tooling, test fixtures and creating work instructions; To recommend and support implementation of new manufacturing processes; Creating cell layouts for new and existing assembly areas; Improving product flow; Providing ongoing support for all assembly performed in other worldwide facilities.

In order to be considered for this position candidates need to have proven experience recommending and implementing Lean Manufacturing / Continuous improvements within an assembly environment, along with an excellent background in improving assembly and manufacturing processes by using Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques such as Six Sigma, SMED, 6S, Process mapping etc.

In addition to this candidates need good knowledge of the New Product Introduction (NPI) process and the ability to drive a top end 3D CAD package such as Solidworks, Inventor, ProEngineer etc in terms of designing jigs and fixtures, assembly tooling and build instructions etc.

It would be advantageous to have gained this experience within a low-medium volume, heavy engineering or safety critical manufacturing environment such as aerospace, defence, rail or nuclear etc.

It would also be advantageous to have implemented Lean Manufacturing into a manufacturing environment or joined at the early stages of Lean Manufacturing implementation, as it would be to have knowledge of Design For Manufacture (DFM), Design For Assembly (DFA), Single piece flow lines, Line testing, Hydraulics, Pneumatics or Prototype Build.

The position is commutable from Birmingham, Coventry, Leamington Spa, Rugby, Warwick, Bedworth and other areas within Warwickshire and the West Midlands.
