Controls Service Engineer

Salary - £32,000 - £36,000 + overtime

Benefits - 25 days hol + pension + life assurance + overtime + company van

Rare opportunity for an experienced controls service engineer electrical or mechanical to join a highly bespoke manufacturing business who supply a global client base around the world providing service, maintenance and installation support on large and small process plant, special purpose machines and industrial equipment projects, occasionally staying away from home but based from Coventry.

This is a unique position for the successful enthusiast candidate with the chance to learn from some of the most knowledgeable and experienced engineers in the sector who are keen to train, develop and pass on their vast experience to the selected technician who is keen and willing to learn.

As Controls Service Engineer you will;

  • Provide service, maintenance and installation support on large and small process plant, special purpose machines and industrial equipment projects.
  • This includes; electrical systems surveys, control system software design, PLC and HMI/SCADA on various proprietary platforms and some PC based systems, scheduled mechanical maintenance activities and machine installation.
  • Provide, post design, pre-commissioning setup of plant instrumentation, networks, systems and motion control.
  • Systems testing up to and including factory acceptance test, to include testing and commissioning documentation leading to onsite systems commissioning, Site Acceptance test and handover to client.


  • Time served apprentice Electrical or Mechanical Engineer essential
  • ONC or above in Electrical or Mechanical engineering
  • 17th Edition electrical qualification or above essential
  • Previous experience working on large capital equipment projects; pneumatic, heating, cooling controls systems, pumping systems, process valves, instrumentation, steam heating systems etc
  • Experience working with PLCs, HMI and SCADA systems with ability to adapt, correct and write software changes as required essential
  • Ability to read and interpret pneumatic, electrical, mechanical and P and ID drawings advantageous
  • Able to travel UK wide and occasionally overseas
  • Full UK driving license essential
