JOB DESCRIPTION FOR: MANAGER (Closing Date 20/03/19)

LOCATION: SHREWSBURY

JOB TITLE: MANAGER

SALARY: FROM GBP30,000.00 p/a

HOURS: FULL TIME (Mon - Fri, 8:30am - 4:30pm though the Manager may be asked to work additional time outside of these hours and occasional weekend work)

THE COMPANY: Our client is a charitable day centre for the homeless and some of the most vulnerable members of the Shrewsbury community, offering them advice and support in a warm and welcoming environment. Our client seeks to help those who feel excluded from society back onto their feet; and it will encourage in its clients the self-confidence and self-sufficiency to be able to secure a place to call home and thrive positively within their community.

THE ROLE: Our client is seeking a compassionate and caring Manager who can successfully implement their vision to enhance their services and lead their staff and volunteers in offering an environment to change positively and develop life skills; combined with an outreach programme for rough sleepers anywhere in Shropshire, which also aims to provide ongoing support when people move into their own accommodation.

Are you/Do you have:

* Evidence of professional learning and development

* Minimum of 5 years management experience in a service environment

* Knowledge of the voluntary sector (Either directly or as a partner organisation)

* Proven ability to lead and motivate a team

* Previous experience of managing and developing the capabilities of volunteers; recognising their skills and utilising them effectively within an organisation

* A social care background

* Management qualification

* Practical experience of developing policies and protocols as well as demonstrable experience of effective implementation

* Operational management of facilities

* High quality report writing

Key responsibilities of the role:

* Attend meetings of Trustees

* Supervise and direct the work of other paid staff and volunteers including Performance Review and Appraisals

* Control the running costs through processes agreed with the Treasurer

* Directly responsible for the maintenance of proper standards of Health and Safety

* Arranging necessary training for staff and volunteers

* Have regard for the Homelessness Reduction Act and maintain good knowledge of other relevant legislation

* Develop the services provided so that as many homeless and vulnerable people as possible can be helped

* Ensure the wellbeing of Staff and Volunteers through managing workload and supporting emotional needs that arise from working in a complex and challenging environment

* Arrange for necessary inspection, repairs and maintenance, including of water, gas and electric appliances and services, by the Landlord (Shropshire Council) or other agency as appropriate
