Financial Controller required for a manufacturing SME based in the Telford region. This business has not long been under new ownership, and has ambitious growth plans, so now is an exciting time to be joining the company. The business itself is c.GBP10m in size, and boasts a reputable name within its industry.

Reporting to the Finance Director, this role is a blend between hands-on and strategy. You will be supporting an accounts production team of two with production of monthly management information, as well as having a strong presence in board meetings and strategic decision-making.

As the Financial Controller your responsibilities will include:

* Supporting the Finance Director by preparing financial numbers and management discussion comments on a monthly basis and assisting the annual external audit

* Perform full cycle accounting duties to complete month end reporting including reconciliations and schedules to agreed timescales

* Build and develop monthly financial packages for review by the Finance Director and Managing Director contributing to decision making on business objectives and new initiatives to drive efficiency, margin improvement and cost reduction

* Develop, build and maintain daily/weekly/monthly/annual cash flow forecasts including leading improvements to cash flow goals

* Assist in deriving operational budgets and capital budgets for review by departmental leadership and Executive Leadership Team

* Create and update dashboards with KPIs as well as additional streams of centralised data; proactively engaging other members of the Management Team in terms of cost reduction

* Create and build reporting capabilities around job costing, customer and product profitability and other areas as required

* Ensure company financials are up to date with accounting standards

* Develop, implement and document accounting processes and internal controls to ensure continued compliance and continued best practices

* Assess the current accounting system with flow of information and adapt where necessary to centralize data and to produce accurate reports

* Create policies and procedures including internal controls to facilitate growth of company and to streamline processes to create efficiencies and accuracy in financial reporting and flow of information within departments

Person requirements

The ideal candidate will hold a CCAB qualification (ACA, ACCA or ACMA) and have experience as Finance Manager, Financial Controller or Head of Finance within SME environments. You should be a confident business partner, as comfortable challenging senior stakeholders and presenting to the board as you are with accounts preparation
