National IT Industrial Placement
This is your chance to get a real taste of retail, as you're exposed to every facet of our business over the 12 months of your placement.
The National IT department is at the very heart of Aldi. We're made up of small high-performing teams, and you can expect plenty of exposure plus hands-on experience of an IT department within a global company. Typically, you could join us as part of a technical team supporting the live business, part of a large scale project team or even have responsibility for a smaller scale project by yourself.
Many of the opportunities available will depend on what's going on with the business at the time. And, trust us, there's always plenty going on at Aldi - our business is constantly growing and developing. Yes, the placement can be daunting. But it can also be a fantastic opportunity to learn and be inspired by a company that's so different to all the others.
Working in specific project areas within the National IT department, you will provide support and work alongside established teams to deliver improvements across the business.
These positions are based at our Corporate Head Office in Atherstone, Warwickshire, and will run from July 2019 - July 2020 (exact start and end dates TBC).
Ideally you will be currently working towards a 2.1 in an IT based degree.
During your Industrial Placement year you will work in one of the following project areas:
Country Deployment Management Office:
In this role you will be part of the Country Deployment team, engaging with relevant global teams to support the release of various applications within Great Britain and Ireland. You will provide technical and administrative, and architecture and integration topic support, with the opportunity to take ownership across a variety of tasks within the scope of the programme.
Business Intelligence and Reporting:
Working alongside the team of Business Intelligence and Reporting Analysts, you will liaise with various business units to interpret their requirements and produce reports that will enable managers to make informed decisions. You will manipulate large amounts of data, primarily using SQL through SSRS as well as alternative technologies such as ASP.net and Microstrategy. You will have the opportunity to work independently on projects that will deliver tangible benefits to a global company.
iPad and End-User-Workspace controller:
You will be a Hardware and Systems IP and will get involved with supporting AME (iPhone / iPad solution) as demand grows across our Store Operations. You will also be involved in End User Development (encryption replacement, software release management initial project setup) and help out on the HelpDesk.
Future Network Consolidation project:
This is an exciting role that will require a highly focussed individual able to work independently to solve a real-world business-problem. You will be involved in the deployment of a new network across all stores and offices in the Great Britain and Ireland; reviewing telephony and network connections, developing solutions to deliver cost-savings to the business, investigating and recommending technical solutions and taking part in commercial negotiations with external partners.
