Role: Electrical Engineer

Location – Warwickshire (with UK and overseas travel)

Salary: £35000 - £45000 DOE

Our Client is a leading UK independent electrical engineering group delivering design, manufacturing, installation, maintenance and service solutions to customers across a broad range of industrial and commercial sectors and is now seeking an Project Manager – French Speaking

As a result of increasing workload we are now looking to recruit an experienced project Manager – French Speaking to work at our Warwickshire site. The activity undertaken by our Engineering Department is both diverse and challenging as it covers all aspects of the design, manufacture and repair of machines which are often highly complex. Although primarily based in our Warwickshire site the successful applicant will have the opportunity to travel both within theUKand overseas.

Key Responsibilities & Accountability

  • Understanding, agreeing and managing the contract, monitoring compliance, managing internal and external interfaces, evaluating and negotiating changes and variations
  • Developing positive customer and stakeholder relationship, leading customer communications, managing expectations of the project
  • Ensuring compliance with the Safety Management System; ensuring safe systems of work are in place; risk assessments issued and signed on to
  • Ensuring Quality Control and Technical compliance is achieved in accordance with agreed contractual arrangements
  • Manage planning: preparing, maintaining and controlling project schedules at appropriate level, taking into account dependencies and resource requirements, and customer visibility; supporting the Resource Manager to plan and optimise resource allocation
  • Ensuring that project teams and subcontractors are sufficiently and correctly briefed and instructions issued and maintained as required with appropriate level of detail; ensuring correct tools and equipment for the project are provided; ensuring logistics of site requirements and transport are in place
  • Manage project finances: estimating, developing and agreeing budgets for projects; controlling forecast and actual costs against the budgets; ensuring costs are booked correctly; ensuring invoices and claims are submitted timely, and cash can be collected
  • Preparing quotations and tenders in response to customer requests
  • Understand, identify and document risks as threats and opportunities, planning and implementing appropriate responses to those risks
  • Reporting: reporting internally for progress at weekly and monthly reviews; ensuring progress, technical and project reports are issued to customer according to contract requirements or agreed otherwise
  • Ensuring project documents and correspondence are maintained and filed in accordance with established quality systems, and information input into the company reporting system
  • Ensuring that technical, logistic and financial aspects are closed upon completion of the project
  • Obtaining and providing feedback on the project for lessons to be learned
  • Targeting: everyone working safely and incidents reported; all round quality service being provided and rework minimised; deliverables on time; improvement of project profitability
  • Ensuring correct internal procedures are followed during project delivery

Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes

  • Flexibility: Show a willingness to adapt to or work with different working styles. Available during out of office times as required to fulfil project needs. Able to travel, within UK and overseas as required
  • Technical knowledge: Demonstrate ability to interpret requirements and engage in discussions with reasonable understanding
  • Leading Others: A desire to lead others, including diverse teams, whilst understanding the role of Project Manager as a leader and applying appropriate methods, gaining respect from project team members and delegating appropriately
  • Literacy and Numeracy: Able to understand project finances, costs, profit and loss, e.g., gross & net margin percentages and calculations, cash-flow etc. Must be a competent writer of business letters, quotations and proposals
  • Computer skills: Must be adept in use of MS Office 2000 or later, particularly Excel, Word and Project, Internet and email, and have ability to learn and become familiar with bespoke financial management systems
  • Communication: Must possess excellent communication skills ensuring correct information is shared and understood between relevant parties
  • Relevant Engineering Degree: or HNC with 3-years’ experience. Preference will be given to Electrical Engineering
  • Commercial Awareness: good understanding of contracting terms
  • Formal Qualification in Project Management: i.e Prince 2, APM or equivalent
  • Proven track record in a Project Management role: Preference will be given if applicant has hands on experience with HV rotating equipment in service or manufacture and has more than 2 years in Project Management
  • Language: At minimum must be fluent in French and English (spoken and written)
