The Mental Health and Money Advice Service is the first UK-wide service to address mental and financial health together. We aim to stop the spiral of debt and mental health issues by providing online information and advice and casework provided by telephone. The service launched in November 2017, commissioned by Mental Health UK and delivered by Rethink Mental Illness in England, Hafal in Wales, Support in Mind in Scotland and Mindwise in Northern Ireland.

We are recruiting for a Mental Health & Money Advice Service Manager to provide strong leadership to a team of Advisers, Senior Advisers and an Administrator. Reporting to the Associate Director for Advice, Information & Training, the Mental Health & Money Advice Service Manager will ensure that processes are followed, key performance indicators are met, and a high-quality service is delivered within budget.

About the Role:

You will monitor the quality and effectiveness of case work interventions relating to both debt and welfare benefits and accessing mental health support
You will work closely with the Website Content Manager to oversee the quality and publication of mental health and money related resources published online
You will ensure staff have access to relevant and up to date resources to allow them to provide high quality and accurate advice
You will keep your own knowledge of mental health, money advice and welfare benefit issues up to date
You will ensure service user feedback in the form of compliment, comments and complaints are encouraged and appropriately responded to
You will monitor monthly transactions and spend against agreed budget
You will develop a staffing rota which ensures optimal service delivery within agreed budget
You will work with the AD for Advice, Information & Training on funding bids and negotiations to secure the long-term future of Mental Health & Money Advice

About You:

You will have evidence of training at Specialist level in money advice (debt and/or welfare benefits) from an accredited training provider
You will have substantial recent experience providing specialist money advice (debt and/or welfare benefits), either face to face or via telephone
You will have experience managing either paid staff or volunteers
You will have experience of writing high quality information for the public e.g. factsheets for public information on websites
You will be familiar with relevant legislation, regulation, guidance, codes of practice and industry standards
You will have a wide range of debt advice knowledge; budgeting, dealing with priority and non-priority debts, County Court / High Court options, insolvency options

In addition to the skill set and experience above, this would be a fantastic opportunity for someone who has a passion for mental health and if you've had previous experience providing support to people with mental illness, as well as their families, friends and carers.
