We are currently working in partnership with a Tier 1 Automotive Manufacturing business who work many global OEM automotive businesses. At present due a strategic growth plan this client is looking to take on a Manufacturing Engineer.

This is a full time permanent vacancy and in return you will be offered a market leading salary of upto GBP40,000 p/a, benefits, pension and holidays. You will also have the the chance to work with a globally renouned business who are at the forefrount of manufacturing excellence. The Manufacturing Engineer is a vital position within this Engineering environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

This role aims to increase profitability by improvement in productivity and overall equipment effectiveness.

This requires analysis of the manufacturing process, reporting on areas of opportunities for improvement and preparation of improvement plans.

The implementation of these plans will be with the approval and support of management

With the use of business information the individual needs to make decisions to reduce the overall 'cost of Quality'

To ensure support to the manufacturing area for the introduction of aesthetic standards/They will also need to prepare reports including data on key performance indicators

In consultation with the Manufacturing Manager to be responsible for the manufacturing element of new product introduction within the business

This includes the initial feasibility stage, process definition, BOM support, tooling sequence and quotation, assembly fixtures and any capital expenditure, as applicable

To work with the team to support the initial ramp up of manufacture to include creation of work instructions, tooling sign off, machinery sign off, run at rate and tool tagging

Knowledge and experience of Lean tools and techniques/Must be analytical with specific regard to planning, data and project management

To provide continuous improvement by focused problem solving using data from customer returns and internal quality data on both product and internal systems.

This requires systematic analysis and preparation of improvement plans; the implementation of these plans will be with the approval and support of management team

To be responsible for defining the manufacturing process in consultation with the Manufacturing Manager

To be responsible for equipment, tooling and process layout within new product introduction within the manufacturing environment

This will include working within the NPI team, through feasibility, costing and launch

It will further include tooling sequence specification, procurement and sign off/Additionally it will necessitate work instruction creation and ongoing maintenance

Working with internal teams to reduce waste and improve profitability by changing equipment layout, improving maintenance activity and resolving quality concerns

For determining the manufacturing process including tooling line up/This will also include appropriate manufacturing jigs and fixtures

You will have responsibility for the sub contract toolmakers and tooling performance within the process until hand over to production

To complete New Project Introduction following the NPI process to Job 1 plus 90 days. This will also include responsibility for documentation of the manufacturing and packing process (work instructions)

This role also includes participation in the continuous improvement team

To work with the internal team at the business identifying and completing aspects of work where improvements can be made and enabling more effective performance

Communication skills need to be of the highest level

To lead Lean activities working toward productivity improvement, scrap reduction and a reduction in waste

Engineer improvements into the process on new parts by using advanced planning techniques, with a view to target a "right first time" introduction of product into manufacturing via the use of Feasibility studies etc

To assist Team Leaders in visual workplace management activities and displays

Review and where appropriate introduce new improved methods of manufacture

To assist Team Leaders in improving skill levels of team members/To conduct early equipment reviews on new plant and layout changes

To support the introduction of new products and processes by the creation of work instructions/To participate in new business project teams

To assist in assessing feasibility on new business opportunities

To assist and define the production process for new business activities/To review and where appropriate support the design of equipment required within the manufacturing process

To conduct early equipment reviews on new plant and propose layout changes/To participate in new business project team activities working to support flawless launches

To assist in the development and improvement of Production process

To participate in site layout change activities/To support the introduction of new products and processes by assisting in the creation of work instructions

To understand and work within the business Quality system IATF 16949/To understand and work within the business Environmental system ISO14001

To work within the company's Health & Safety Policy/To maintain a clean and tidy work environment

To identify their own particular needs that contributes to their own future development

To convene, run and / or attend meetings as and when required

To issue relevant visit reports/To produce monthly status reports for management review

Assist on scrap reduction programmes/Identify and implement process improvements giving increased performance and reducing cost

Hours of Work:- 39 hours per week

8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Thursday (30 minute lunch)

8:00am - 1:00pm Friday (no lunch)

Holidays: 33 Days per year (Including bank Holidays)

Pension Scheme: Employer Contribution Scheme in place
