Construction Commercial Manager
£DOE + Package

Kenton Blacks biggest client are looking to appoint a Construction Commercial Manager to provide Construction, Commercial, Procurement and Project Management advice to the development team, based out of their Birmingham Office.

Due to organic growth they require the Construction Commercial Manager to come in and work closely with the development team, reporting into the Construction Director.

• Site acquisition due diligence, identification of construction risks and costing of those risks.
• Input into bid documentation.
• Early liaison with the Development team and/or potential customer to understand requirements and reflect in initial proposals.
• Commercial management pre and post contract of infrastructure and new building developments. Procure design team consultants and specialists to develop the scheme design pre and post contract. Manage the design process to meet development or customer requirements.
• Production of project specific specification.
• Procure drawings and specifications to reflect customer detailed requirements pre and post contract.
• Project management.
• Liaise with development team on all construction matters.
• Liaise with customers to understand building requirements.
• Development and ownership of the construction procurement documentation.
• Liaise with employer’s agent in the management of the building contract and legal documentation.
• Liaise with customers management team in relation to any construction project management aspect of the project.
• Overall responsibility of the construction project including monitoring and reporting of the main contractor to deliver the project requirements within time and budget.
• Aid the business in the development of its main contractor and consultant supply chain.
• Contribute to reporting on construction matters within the business including sustainability, specification, development and marketing initiatives.
• Post contract liaison with customers / project manager in relation to commercial aspects of the project.
• Liaise with all functions within the business.
• Liaise with third parties such as Highways Agency, National Rail, Environment Agency and Local Authorities

Essential Skills:
• Innovative, determined, driven, passionate, team player, professional, ethical.
• Previous construction, commercial and project management experience in property development or construction industry.
• Cost planning and cost management experience.
• Quantity Surveyor with relevant qualifications preferred.
• Knowledge of construction industry methods, procurement, contracts, pricing and provision of utilities.
• 10 years’ prior experience in a similar role.
• Warehouse experience beneficial.
• Management of consultants and design development process.
• Knowledge of planning system advantageous.
• Knowledge of development appraisals would be advantageous.

Equipment / Software / Training:
• Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Project management software such as Microsoft Project or Asta Teamplan.
• Continue with training to keep up to date with changes in legislation and construction technologies as and when necessary.
• Construction industry qualification to HNC or degree level.
