Homeless Activities Coordinator
Activities Coordinator require for homeless hostel on temp on going basis, based in Stoke on Trent
Your new company
This hostel has 64 beds and 5 extra for the most entrenched rough sleepers. They are looking for a activities coordinator to join their team on an on going temp basis for at least the next 3 months.
Your new role
As an activities coordinator you will working in an environment surrounded by vulnerable adults and where client engagement is key. Your duties will be to encourage engagement and participation into actives that you have planned out throughout the day. You will be expected to have a weekly plan and rota of activities for the week hard with at least 4 activities planned a day. These activities can range from cooking to life skills such as washing and cleaning, as well as planning external trips out, movies night and other group programmes.
You will be expected to put different and engaging event and activities into place both in the hostel and outside to gauge attraction to customers. Your attendance could range from up to 20 plus customers in the activity participation. You will be given a budget and take your plans to management for approval to get the funding needs the activities planned therefore a creative mind is needed. As you will be engaging with a variety of vulnerable customer with complex needs ranging from mental health, substance and alcohol abuse and therefore you need to have an enthusiastic can-do attitude towards the role and the customers. At time you may be asked to help and support other member of the team such as the support staff in their duties.
What you'll need to succeed
You need to have experience in a similar role previously, as well the personal skills and goals to work with vulnerable adults whose engagement may be complex and difficult to gain at times.
This client has a great focus on personality and therefore you will need to enthusiastic in your role in order to succeed.
What you'll get in return
This is an ongoing role on shift rota basis covering early's, late's and weekend work over a 39-hour working week. The hourly rate dependant on pay type will be £9.50 plus per hour and you will get work as part of a time who strive off helping turn around vulnerable people's lives. You will be giving them keys skills to move on into their own independent living.
