A vacancy has arisen for a Production Team Leader to be based within our Kingsbury site.

Job Outline:

To drive output and productivity whilst maintaining appropriate standards of product quality workplace safety and environmental performance.Using a hands-on approach with effective leadership, you will ensure a culture of continuous improvement while promoting a learning environment for staff to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

·Appropriate supervision of team and contractors

·Drive and maintain a high standard of housekeeping throughout the factory

·Investigate any accidents, injuries or near misses within 24 hours completing the necessary documentation in line with the accident reporting procedure and informing the HSE Adviser

·Actively manage the shift operation ensuring that all plant is running to optimum, quality is being maintained & their workforce is fully occupied

·Appropriate use of fault finding and problem solving methods

·Communicate to team members any relevant quality information such as waste targets, customer feedback/complaints, ongoing or planned improvements

·Provide a consistent leadership style that promotes teamwork, open communication, can do attitude, leading by example and a culture of continuous improvement

·Visual daily monitoring of production line for quality, waste and efficiency

·Ensure H&S safety standards are communicated effectively and maintained at all times in line with the company’s policies and procedures. Consult with staff or their elected representatives to identify any health and safety concerns

·Ensure that suitable and sufficient risk assessments are carried out where risk is foreseeable and that action is taken to remove risk

·Ensure the correct planning of production requirements in conjunction with the Production Manager on a regular basis

·Identify and deliver improvements to the production and quality process to ensure agreed cost and efficient production schedules

·Ensure optimum production targets, minimum waste and the highest levels of consistent quality are achieved

·Summarise previous shift performance and identify key issues for daily production meeting

·Oversee the various quality checks as specified on the production check list. Monitoring quality from raw material to finished goods throughout the shift is imperative

·Control and monitoring of raw materials stocks and clay prep

·Plan holiday/shift swaps to ensure plant performance

·Ensure adherence to Wienerberger’s quality system & standards in accordance with BS EN ISO 9001

·Ensure that all quality issues are dealt with immediately as per agreed procedures

·Communicate to team members any relevant quality information such as waste targets, customer feedback/complaints, ongoing or planned improvements

·Know and communicate the appropriate targets/KPI’s clearly and regularly

·Ensure that HR policies and procedures are followed and adhered to, including carrying out disciplinary action where necessary, in conjunction with or following advice from a member of the HR Team

·Identify future training needs and carry out training for your staff and yourself which will assist in the development of a professional and flexible team and maximise the utilisation of resources

·Ensure all new starters are efficiently inducted and trained

Skills & Experience:

·Minimum 5 years working in the brick industry

·Minimum 2 years working as a shift supervisor / team leader

·Good understanding of Health and Safety regulations

·IT literate / minimum of 5 GCSE's to include Maths and English

·Forklift truck certificate is desirable

·IOSH trained is desirable

·Experience of working in Lean environment is desirable

Hours: 6.00am to 5.00pm on a 4 on / 4 off shift pattern
