Our client is a partner in delivery of the Connecting Choices project. This is funded by European Social Fund and National Lottery Community Fund, to support unemployed or economically inactive adults within Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle under Lyme to improve their employability.
Community Hub Worker (Employment Project

Hours: 15 hours per week (may increase depending on the needs of the service)
Salary:
GBP19,000 per annum, pro rata
This is fixed term contract until 31st March 2020

They are looking for an enthusiastic individual with proven experience to support delivery of the Community Hub programme providing social, cultural, creative and recreational activities for Hub members across the 5 Social Hubs in Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme. The Community Hub Worker will work closely with the Project Co-ordinator and a team of volunteers to oversee and facilitate activities in the community.
The post holder will support the supervision, training and mentoring of volunteers who are referred into the programme by any of 9 End to End Partners with an objective of delivering volunteer led social hubs.
These Social Hubs take place in community venues supporting people on the Ixion led Connecting Choices BBO project. Typical referrals have social anxiety, low self-esteem and confidence and the hubs support them to share interests, build skills and reduce social isolation.
Duties will include:
  • Overseeing delivery of some of the 5 Social Hubs across the City & Newcastle-under-Lyme
  • Engaging, supporting and enabling hub members who attend
  • Working closely with volunteers to support delivery of activities in the social hubs
  • Ensuring project procedures and paperwork are completed satisfactorily
A Level 4 qualification (or equivalent) in either community support/mental or social health is essential along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. You will have previous experience of working with people who have suffered social and/or emotional health and wellbeing issues. Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are essential.
