We are helping our client who is a multinational membership organisation to recruit for a Policy Manager who will be responsible for managing the Institutes policies across a wide range of fields including, official responses and view points on relevant global and domestic issues, equality / diversity and inclusion / membership services / technical resources and workshops etc.
This really is a great opportunity for someone with a Technical / Scientific background who has experience of Policy / Programme / Project management within an Industrial, Professional Body, Educational Establishment who wants to further their career and really have the opportunity to take ownership of and champion the institutes professional respect and high regard within the scientific and engineering sectors.
We anticipate you will be educated to Master’s degree level or above in a relevant science or engineering discipline and have experience working in a technical or policy environment with direct line management responsibility. A recognised project management qualification would be desirable along with prior experience working with and motivating volunteers.

You will be comfortable getting involved in day-to-day team issues, managing budgets and forecasts, setting work targets, tracking performance, managing stakeholder relationships (members, scientists, engineers, academics, industrialists and government officials) and advising of the Institutes position on a broad range of technical policy topics related to chemical and process engineering.

Core responsibilities of the role include:

Providing leadership and oversight to the delivery of technical policy outputs

Leading developing and managing the Learning and Technical Resource function on a day-to-day basis

Overseeing work and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion

Overseeing the Institutes rewards, medals and prizes schedule

Building and maintaining relationships with members, external partners and stakeholders

This is a full time role that can be based at Rugby or London with an expectation to travel to the other site and other locations as required. Initially on a 12 month fixed term contract with the opportunity for renewal and permanent contract. Immediate start and fantastic benefits and professional development opportunities.
