We have an interesting opportunity for a Technical Policy Manager to lead and manage a team of Technical Knowledge Officers and shape the delivery of an international membership organisation's activities as a learned society. The role will also involve leading the organisation's work on diversity and its policy contributions.
The core responsibilities of the role include: providing leadership and oversight to the delivery of technical policy outputs leading and managing the Learned Society function on a day-to-day basis overseeing the development and delivery of the Learned Society strategy overseeing work and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion overseeing the organisation's medals and prizes schedule building and maintaining relationships with members, external partners and stakeholders This person will be comfortable getting involved in day-to-day team issues, managing budgets and forecasts, setting work targets, tracking performance, managing stakeholder relationships and advising of the organisation's position on a broad range of technical policy topics related to chemical and process engineering.
The ideal candidate will be educated to Master's degree level or above in a science or engineering discipline with at least 3 years' experience working in a technical or policy environment with direct line management responsibility. A recognised project management qualification would be desirable, as well as prior experience working with and motivating volunteers.
This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week) Monday to Friday. This is initially for a fixed term period of 12 months to cover maternity leave, but there may well be opportunity following this 12 month period.
The annual salary will be between £37,000 and £45,000 (based on experience) plus benefits which includes an excellent pension scheme.
