Freight Customer Services- Wednesbury

Our client has been in the Freight industry since their company was founded over 40 years ago. As a small independent firm at the time, they were one of only a handful of companies at the time who offered the Freight Forwarding services and an overnight groupage service.

Fast forward to modern times and they now has several sites around the UK and Ireland and have managed to build up a strong reputation as one of the most cost effective and reliable Freight Forwarding companies in Europe whilst continuing to maintain their excellent groupage service.

They are currently on the lookout for a Customer Services Clerk, hopefully with a background in Freight industry. The company's business has massively increased over the last 12 months which has led them to need a Customer Services Clerk to liaise between clients, Transport and Sales to ensure good service and customer retention, with a focus on the UK-Northern Ireland service and Account Management.



* Receive, enter and confirm bookings onto the company CRM system
* Price up the Northern Ireland trailer packs daily (Customer and Subcontractor charges)
* Scan in proof of deliveries daily report any issues.
* Pass urgent collections straight to the transport team after confirmation
* Assist in the management of the Northern Ireland groupage trailer service, and be able to complete all aspects of this position independently, after training has been provided

Customer service & sales support

* Answer the phone and deal directly with customers either by telephone or electronically
* Check that all Overnight deliveries have shipped/delivered and inform customers
* Monitoring our Northern Ireland Subcontractor / service provider making sure all service levels are been hit.
* Respond promptly to customer enquiries
* Handle/resolve customer complaints raise non-conformances and report to Manager.
* Account management for allocated clients, including service calls, KPI Reports
* Keeping a list of daily service call/ update and resolving issues you might find.
* Pass any sales/rate enquiries to the appropriate team member
* European freight forwarding, obtain quotes and quoting customers (After training)


* Organize workflow to meet company/customer timeframes
* Provide cover for any other members of the office team where required
* Communicate and coordinate with internal & external departments
* Maintain customer databases and update addresses, contact names etc
* Other reasonable duties as required
* To represent the company in a professional way at all times


* Knowledge and Experience in of the Freight/Transport industry highly advantageous
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Be confident using a telephone
* Be computer literate, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel
* Good time keeping
* Ability to organise and prioritise own workload
* Be a team player


* GBP16,000-18,000 basic salary
* Pension Scheme
* Discretionary bonus
* 20 Days holiday + Public Holidays (28 total)
* 9-6pm Monday-Friday
