The importance of food at Chase

Students and staff lead active and busy lives; they require a healthy and enjoyable diet that meets their varied needs. The school receives many visitors. The hospitality shown to those visitors reflects immediately upon the school, appropriate catering services reflect favourably on the school, a poor standard of provision in our hospitality may be construed as indicative of similar standards elsewhere.

Job Purpose

The responsibilities of the School Chef will require the appointee to assist within the catering department to ensure that catering throughout the school meets the school's objectives, maintains the highest possible standards of food services whilst providing a warm welcome to students, staff and visitors.

Responsible to: Catering Manager

Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities

* Provide service for approximately 120 Full Boarders, 180 Day Students, 20 Residential Staff and 40 Non-residential Staff and visitors, seven days per week for three terms per year and for visiting groups at other times

* Ensure that food produced meets the nutritional standards required by children growing through their early and teenage years

* Contributes new recipe ideas

* Makes adjustments to accommodate students with allergies or specific dietary concerns

* Plan and prepare for events ensuring that the catering at all times reflects well on the school

* Support and play a role in managing the performance of members of the catering department,

* Contribute to arrangements for purchasing/ordering and financial administration

* Contributes to maintaining production records, stock reconciliation and waste control

* Ensure you meet all school and legislative administration and reporting requirements

* Ensure all Health and Safety and Hygiene procedures and standards of performance are followed

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday - 06:30 to 14:30

Your annual leave allowance would be 28 days (including Bank Holidays) to be taken during school holidays.

Has previous catering experience

Knowledge of international cuisines
