Maintenance Manager

Location: Shrewsbury, Shropshire

Salary: GBP50-54k, car or car allowance, bonus, pension, private medical insurance, 25 days annual leave.

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

The Site: An ERF (Energy Recovery Facility), which utilises world-class technology to safely transform residual waste into energy for the National Grid. The facility is designed to process 102,000 tonnes of waste every year which is not suitable for recycling or composting. The facility will produce 8MW of energy for the National Grid suitable for powering 10,000 homes.

Duties: You will work alongside the Operations Manager to maintain the operational efficiency of the Energy Recovery Facility. You will be fully responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all aspects, ensuring maximum production with minimal downtime whilst adhering to company procedures and statutory regulations.

You will deliver an effective safety and environmental compliance culture for all plant and processes on site, direct the maintenance team to deliver on financial and technical performance targets.

You will be responsible for preparing and managing an annual maintenance budget that includes planned shutdown works and plant improvements. You will also be responsible for preparing and driving a maintenance life cycle for the plant.

The Maintenance Manager will lead and contribute to projects across the wider ERF sector within the business, represent the Company and Facility in internal and external forums. You will manage site staff and contractors. This includes recruitment, appraisals, training & development, disciplinary & grievance, annual salary reviews and PDPs (Personal Development Plans).

You will be responsible for the management of all data input on the computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) and ensure the plant is compliant to ISO EN9001, EN14001 and EN18001. You will also be responsible for planning and delivering all planned shutdown works ensuring compliance with CDM (Construction, Design and Management) and PSSR (Pressure Systems Safety Regulations) Regulations where applicable.

The role holder will be responsible for all aspects of the facility on a 24/7 operation. You will need to be available to be called in during emergency situations and plant breakdowns and have the flexibility to travel or stay away overnight.

Experience Required: To be successful in this role you will need to possess:

IOSH Managing Safely

Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification

Good knowledge of MSW Incineration and Power Generation, preferably having experience at a Management level in one of these areas.

You will have knowledge of current H&S issues and safe working systems. You will have had experience of managing budgets and development of staff, possess the analytical ability and be an enthusiastic and competent problem solver with a practical approach to solving engineering problems.

The ideal candidate will have a proven maintenance background with good communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage, motivate and drive the maintenance team and site contractors.
