We are seeking to appoint an experienced and inspiring Youth Work Co-ordinator and Trainer to develop high quality youth work and training in specified areas of Coventry. You will join us on a full time basis working 37.5 hours per week on a fixed term contract until March 2020. In return you will receive a competitive salary of GBP24,000 per annum. This position will include working evenings and weekends.
YMCA Coventry and Warwickshire is a local YMCA charity which provides a wide range of services service to help support local people. We are part of the English Federation of YMCAs and the worldwide YMCA Movement.
The Youth Work Co-ordinator Role:
You will develop local relational activity that delivers good quality, engaging, universal youth work in different areas of Coventry to maximise opportunities though collaboration with other projects in the YMCA and with Coventry Youth Consortium. In this position you will develop and deliver young leader training and initial youth work training to create a cycle where young people can move from being receivers of service to participants and role models for others. You will build a volunteer workforce over the three-year cycle of the project to largely replace sessional workers over the life of the project.
Key Responsibilities off our Youth Work Co-ordinator:
- Be responsible for planning and leading sessions both in an open access youth club setting and doing outreach projects
- To engage local business and organisations to contribute to the programme and running costs to ensure continuous running of the project
- In conjunction with the Youth Work Manager, provide training to the team
- To act in the interests of your safety and the safety of others at all times, ensuring that all concerns are reported and correct process followed in relation to safeguarding/health & safety
To be successful as our Youth Work Co-ordinator, you will be:
- Qualified as a youth worker or equivalent
- Trained to Level 3 Education and Training or similar (or willing to gain this qualification)
- Experience of a range of children's and young people's programmes
- Have a passion for working with young people
- Dedicated and proactive in sourcing suitable sessions and be willing to work at different locations to help build effective and meaningful relationships with young people
- Effective communication skills are essential to encourage young people to take part in sessions
- Experience of leadership or management within a youth & community and programme related context
- Experience within the YMCA Movement in different roles
- Experience of different organisation structures and approaches to management.
- Experience of delivering qualifications to Level 3

The position is initially fixed until March 2020, with the expectation that together with the wider YMCA team continuation of funding will be obtained.
