My client a highly successful chattered IFA firm based in Sutton Coldfield, currently looking to recruit a Compliance Manager due to retirement.

General Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the firm maintains accurate, detailed and up to date compliance records across all areas of the firm's business
  • Ensure the firm can respond to requests for information from the FCA and provide the requisite notifications to the FCA
  • Ensure appropriate ethical standards exist within the firm
  • Ensure knowledge of the necessary regulatory requirements is kept up to date
  • Ensure the firm continues to meet its threshold conditions (COND)
  • Report to the firm's senior management team on a regular basis on all relevant compliance issues
  • Produce a formal annual monthly compliance report for the firm's senior management
  • Produce six monthly TCF reports for the firm's senior management
  • Manage relationship with the FCA to ensure requirements of Principle 11 are continually met
  • Comply with the financial services and Markets Act 2000, the FCA statements of principle and code of practice and the relevant FCA rules at all times
  • Comply with the relevant compliance, TCF, T&C and financial crime procedures of the firm at all times

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the following tasks:
    • Recruitment (references)
    • T&C
    • File checking
    • TCF
    • Advice and sales practices
    • Quarterly 1-2-1's with Advisers
    • Financial crime (anti-money laundering, data security, anti-bribery, fraud and corruption)
    • Financial promotions
    • Complaints
    • Appointed Representatives (if applicable)
    • Notifications
    • Compliance
    • Risk assessment
    • Management information
    • Record keeping
    • Business continuity and disaster recovery

Relevant Skills and Knowledge:

  • Broad base of compliance knowledge
  • Specific understanding/knowledge of the FCA conduct of business and /SYSC rules
  • Good understanding of other relevant legislation, including that related to financial crime
  • The ability to create a good working relationship and liaise with all working Partners and authorities such as Threesixty, PI Insurer's, FCA, FOS etc.
  • Knowledge of Gabril reporting
  • The ability to communicate and work with all levels of the business
